Pleasing Act - A Group Discussion

Zackir : We can spend our whole life doing what we don’t want to do, and die. Or we can spend our life doing what we do want to do, and die. The end result is the same. The question is whether or not we are going to enjoy ourselves in the meantime.

Yesterday, I received a video of a respectable and celebrated poet / song writer, addressing an audience, on the most controversial topic in India.

Hearing his speech, I lost respect for him, whom I once admired for his linguistic proficiency. He was doing a pleasing act; talking about only the thing, the audience wanted to hear. It was obvious, he was not himself. It was plain & shameful way of earning respect from people.

And then, I looked at myself and wondered....Am I not doing the same ?

My question is.....Is it truly possible to be ourselves without ever getting caught up in the expectation of others ?

Sekar : Zackir, Don't go in the pleasing act. Talk what you feel and get in to controversy, enjoy life as it is.

Zackir : Sekar, It's easier said than done.  One has to free up from all dependencies to live like you suggest.

Sekar : Not always Zackir. Whenever, wherever possible. It is always possible for us to avoid the pleasing act.

Isaac : Sekarji, I would like to say something regarding this pleasing act. This act will always be there as it is one way of getting things done.

Nothing but pleasing him.
